 WELCOME BACK TO THE LIBRARY!

I am looking forward to another fantastic year in the library!  We are switching from "Reading Counts" to "Accelerated Reading" this year.  This is exciting because so many of our library books did not have quizzes in "Reading Counts", but will in "AR", including many nonfiction books.

My main purpose is to instill a love of reading, in all students.  I strive to make the library a relaxed and inviting place for all to gather.

If you have any questions/concerns, do not hesitate to contact me.  The best way to reach me, is by email, as I check it often throughout the day.  You can also call me at the main school number, my extension is #309.

I wish everyone a great school year, keep reading.  If you can read, you can do anything!

 Happy Summer!

It has been a great school year!  I have seen so much growth and progress in students' reading ability.  Thank you to all of my students who returned their books on time this year.  This is also a great indicator of learned responsibility.

It is my hope that students will keep reading over the summer, for the pure enjoyment of it!  Take time to visit the public library, where you will find lots of great reading material.

Have a great summer and I look forward to seeing everyone back in the St. Peter School library, come August!

 Hello, Readers of ALL Ages!

The second semester is off to a great start in the library!

We are still officially in the season of winter.  There is nothing better, than getting cozy with a great book when it is cold outside!  Students are checking out books, in record numbers.  This makes a librarian's heart so happy!  We have so many great series, in all genres, to immerse ones self in.  Some favorites right now, are the "Chronicles of Narnia", "Harry Potter" (of course!), "Wings of Fire", "The Seekers", "The Warriors", "The Baby-Sitters Club", and so many more!

Our nonfiction section is seeing lots of interest too.  The most popular subjects now are; hunting, animals, pets, wars and battles, sports, cookbooks, and reptiles.

Also, with so many students involved in extracurricular activities outside of school, I always strive to make the library a relaxing, inviting place.  A space for students to be able to not only check out books, but to relax, study, collaborate with their peers, and just feel happy and comfortable.

As always, we happily accept any gently used, books!  Even if it is an older series, I'll take them.  I often use them to replace very worn books, in our collection.  Students are very hard on books, and they need to be replaced, quicker than one would think!

Do not hesitate to contact me, with any questions or concerns!

SUMMER IS A GREAT TIME TO READ!

It has been a great year in the library!

I encourage students to continue to read over the summer.  The public library offers some great summer programs and activities, as well as a wonderful variety of books for all reading levels.  If you do not have a library card for your child, I encourage you to obtain one.  It is free and easy!

Please keep our school library in mind over the summer, if you go through your child's books.  What is no longer interesting to one child, will likely be fascinating to another child!  The cost of books has increased a lot, and I love getting gently used ones, to add to our circulation collection or to replace worn-out books.

We can also always use new crayons, markers, construction paper, cardstock, etc., for students to enjoy using during their library time!

I love watching your children's confidence and joy in reading increase each year, and I look forward to another great year!
